I have had many vacuums over the years. I have paid big money for the most popular only to be disappointed over a few months. They never work the same. This Dirt Devil was not only cheap in price, but it has been the best vacuum I ever used. So great, that after a good use on the old one I searched out a new one. I have 2 pets and need to keep the hair down on tile and carpet. I bought a bagless one and it did not do the job this vacuum had done. I finally found one like my old one again on Amazon. I hope this bagged vacuum is around forever. Can't beat the price or the performance

I was quite confused when I first started doing research on electorlux. My mother, and her mother, have always owned electrolux vacuums. This electrolux is not the same company that has been doing business in the U.S. under the electrolux name in the past. The old electrolux has changed their name to Aerus Electrolux.
Electrolux is an international company that states on their website "Electrolux is the world's largest producer of appliances and equipment for kitchen, cleaning and outdoor use." In the United States they do business under the familiar names: Eureka, Frigidaire, Poulan, Weed Eater, and now thier upscale brand Electrolux.

OK, on to the vacuum. I bought mine after much research at Lowe's. While opening and putting the thing together, a small clip that holds the power head on the shaft broke off. I called the company and they said they would send me a new piece with out much hassle, but then got a call back 15 minutes later saying that since the product was so new, it might take 2 months to send me a replacement part and suggested I just return it for a new one to Lowe's. My over all experience with thier customer support leads me to beleive that I won't have too many problems dealing with them in the future.

My second vacuum unpacked fine and after a couple uses I'm quite satisfied with it's performance. The carpet powerhead does very well on my rugs, and even does ok on hard floors. The hard floor attachment is more than a foot wide and makes quick work of the hard wood in my house but is so wide you have to switch it for the corner tool to get around most furnature. I was impressed with the suction from the vacuum, even before I noticed that I only had it turned up half way :) So I'll try to sum up the pros and cons.

Pro:
Cool looking
Nice cord length and roll up storage
Wide reach on the attachments
Small size of the canister
Does a good job of sucking up small stuff
Bags are just more than $1 each (for the standard bags)
Easily turn on and off the roller on the power head
Both the hard floor attachment, and the power head easily go under beds and couches

Con:
Hard to deteach the hose from the canister for storage
Power head won't work on bath mats

I'll post again in a few months when I see how it's holding up.

VERY good vacuum! WORTH WAY MORE THAN IT COSTS
This is a very good vacuum if you're only doing carpet and not hard surfaces. i really mean it when i say it's a very good vaccuum. the person reviewing before complaining about the 3 empties of dust cup is evidence of that. it's picking up WAY more then other vacuums. i even tried a dyson out in the store and that was laughable compared to this one. the dyson left trails of dirt on the home depot floor. they also said there's no upholstry attachment??? HELLO!!!!!!! the POWER PAW!!!!! DUH! it's amazing, it rotates just like the regular vacuum so it really gets the cat hair and does a great job on the stairs.

it has a great ergo handle the lifts and lowers for comfort.
no filter in dust cup which is a huge plus
GREAT PRICE! worth WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more.


there are a few quirks in design.

hepa air outlet placement, in the front so if you're doing hardwoods and stand it up, things blow around.

the hose is weirdly attached so you really have to push it through the hole to get it to extend and it always goes back in while you're vacuuming.

the attachments fall off so i just store them elsewhere

the cord should be retractable that would be STELLAR!

i am very happy with this vacuum it does a bang up job and i'll just have to stick to swiffers for my hardwoods.

Hoover S3670 Anniversary WindTunnel Bagged Canister-Excellent Vac!
It's been a long road to get to this particular vacuum. About a year ago, I bought a used Filter Queen that was touted as the best canister on market. I hated it from the start, would just push objects across the carpet instead of picking them up. DREADED using it, it was so cumbersome and didnt have any modern features, such as auto cord rewind. So finally was able to sell that, even lost a few bucks on deal but just wanted it out of the house.

Then I bought what I thought I wanted, a Sears model. Have had a Sears Progressive before but the quick release feature broke on it (a piece of plastic inside tube, could not be fixed) and now it was quick releasing too quickly.....

So I thought that would be a good choice but once I got it home, it just seemed flimsy and cheap. Didn't even work so well. So back to the store it went. Seems Sears products are getting flimsier and are not the same quality as of just a few years ago.

Did a bunch of internet research and came upon this Hoover model. Was not even aware that other vacuums,other than Sears, had the quick release feature. This is my major requirement, and was pleased to find another option than Sears. All reviews I found spoke highly of this vacuum, so I ordered it sight unseen and it arrived yesterday.

Well I am most pleased!!! Just taking it out of the box the quality seemed superior to the Sears model I had just returned. Also very sharp looking, and it works great!! Super long cord, telescopic wand, really generous sized hardwood floor attachment and it also has this odd shaped onboard brush attachment , that I am in love with. It is the perfect shape to clean your baseboards and with your adjustable wand, there is no need for alot of uncomforable bending. Great for a tall gal! So I am now a very happy neat freak, finally have a vacuum I am happy with and look forward to using!!!

Sucks
This is by far the best vacuum I've ever used. The suction is fantastic, it's ridiculously easy to clean and empty, and it doesn't kick up a lot of dust.

The agitator is perfect for relatively short carpets. It's nonadjustable, however, so it'll chew up thin carpets and do nothing on shag.
